Wrestling update: Wildcats 13th at Spartan Classic

Franklin County wrestling finished 13th among 32 competing teams at this year's Spartan Classic in Connersville. The Wildcats scored 111 points, six behind Columbus North. Portage (260), Jasper (212.5) and Daleville (179) were the winners by division. FC was in the top 10 after the first day of action.
A couple of Andrews, Merritt of FC and Dietz of Anderson, squared off in the 132-pound finals on Dec. 29. In a hard-fought match, the Wildcat senior lost by decision to the Indians' Dietz. Breck Bohman was the other Wildcat to make the quarterfinals, wrestling in the 160-lb. class. He placed fourth overall. Ben Maze was the final Wildcat to stand on the podium, earning 8th place.
FC is at conference rival Greensburg Jan. 5 and attends the two-day Wayne County Invitational this weekend.
