BROOKVILLE -- A rodeo and fireworks show drew thousands of people to Brookville on Saturday. It was organized by the Tri-State First Responders Association, a non-profit that was created to raise funds for police and fire departments in the region.

Organizers say the rodeo raised $28,000, which will allow the non-profit to benefit local departments through gear and training.

"We started this organization to focus on the small agencies where we can give back to them and share some money to help them out because they have a small budget," said Jason Hoffman, with the Tri-State First Responders Association.

The organization has just announced this will be an annual event that will return to Brookville with a bigger event in 2023.

"This is phenomenal to see the support, especially for our first year. You never know what to expect, but to see the community come out like this has just been wonderful, we are very excited about the future," said Adam Boesken, a Ripley County deputy who serves on the non-profit.
