Wildcat varsity baseball sits at 8-8 on the year after a 7-0 defeat at the hands of conference foe South Dearborn April 26, two more EIAC losses and finally a rout of Greensburg.
FC was limited to just four hits against the Knights' Willoughby brothers, Ryan and Reese. Reese was the winning hurler, striking out 10 Cats in five frames. Ryan pitched two spotless stanzas. Five Knights had 2 hits apiece and Dylan Wynn knocked in two. Eli Butt suffered the loss as he and JD Stokes split pitching duties.
The Cats were also shut out by SD two days later, 2-0. Single runs in the second and third were all the Knights needed to defeat Adam Daugherty and his mates. Xander Rodriguez had FC's lone hit in the game. Daugherty allowed 6 hits and struck out 4.
Max Baumer's walkoff homer in the bottom of six ended Batesville's 14-4 win over the Cats Saturday. BHS' 9-run second was an early nail in the coffin for FC. Brant Ertel was 3-of-3 with a double and Butt had 2 hits. Ertel, Daugherty (double), Chase Burton and Remy Watters (double) had the RBIs. Hunter Geis took the loss, relieved by Avery Harrison and Stokes out of the pen.
FC made quick work of the Pirates, winning early by a 14-1 final. Butt led the hit attack with 3 (double, 3 RBI) while Burton had 2 hits (double) and 3 RBI and Trevor Moizuk a pair of knocks (double), an RBI and steal. Kristian Prows drove in 2, as did Ertel. Daugherty and Watters (double) had 1 RBI each. Rodriguez swiped a bag. Butt earned the win, striking out 8.
FC is at Greensburg Thursday.
Monday on the JV field, Greensburg rallied in the top of seven to tie the game. In the last of the seventh, FC put a runner on, and Harrison was walked to bring Spencer Bath to the dish. Bath lined a walkoff single over shortstop to win the game for the reserves.
