Lady Cats with mixed results

Franklin County softball came up short of conference rival Greensburg in a pitcher's duel April 26, falling 2-1. Hermione Robinson and Michaela “KK” Ferman battled in the circle, with Robinson getting the needed run support.
FC had just 6 hits as Brooke Stang and Bree Bischoff recorded multiple safeties. Stang was 4-of-4 with a double, run-batted in and stolen base. Ferman gave up 8 hits while striking out 8.
The next evening, FC took a 10-0 hit against conference foe Connersville. CHS scored six in the fourth and three more in the fifth. The girls were held to just 2 hits.
Thursday night's affair with conference opponent Rushville ended in exciting fashion as the Wildcats rallied for four runs in the bottom of seven to edge the Lady Lions 7-6. This right on the heels of the Lions plating three in the top of the frame.
Stang started things with a single and Maci Lake reached on an error. Kensee Ferman became the tying run at the plate for FC; she singled home Stang. KK Ferman tied the game with a double. Runner Tiffany Billman raced home with the winning run after Josie Rolfes was hit by a pitch and Kiersten Schell singled up the middle for the game-winner.
Bischoff was solid in the circle, throwing a complete game, just one earned run while scattering 7 hits and fanning 3. The Fermans were both 2-of-4 with KK getting 2 doubles and 2 RBI and Kensee adding a double and 4 RBI. Stang had 2 hits and a steal.
FC clobbered Knightstown 11-0 Friday. It was scoreless heading into the bottom of four when the Cats went off for nine runs on 7 straight knocks. They then added two in the fifth, including Bischoff's walkoff 2-run double due to the 10-run rule. The Panthers had threatened in the third before KK Ferman struck out the next batter; she ended with a one-hit shutout and 8 punchouts. Bischoff (double, 3 RBI), Schell (double, 2 RBI), Kassidy Schell (double, RBI), Stang and Lake (double) all had 2 hits. Rolfes added a double, KK an RBI and Anne Becker an RBI.
FC improved to 11-4.
