Union County, Winchester and Northeastern girls track and field teams battled it out to the end at the Northeastern Knight Invitational last Friday night. 

The Winchester Lady Falcons (121) came out on top, followed by Union County (114) and Northeastern (111). 

The Northeastern boys (157) ran away with the boys title followed by Lincoln (84) and Union City (81). 

The Union County girls were led by freshman Katie McCashland (long jump) and the 4x400m relay team of Haley Alcorn, Katie McCashland, Carly McCashland and Kaleah Louden.

Katie won the 100m dash, long jump and ran a leg on the first-place 4x100 relay team.

UC’s first-place finishers in the boys events include  Ty Elleman (300m hurdles) and Reece Watterson in the discus throw.

Next meet
Union County track and field teams are busy tonight, Thursday, May 5, at Tri High in a 3-way meet with Rushville.
The Tri-Eastern Conference meet is Thursday, May 12 and IHSAA Sectionals at Connersville are Tuesday, May 17 (girls) and Thursday, May 19 (boys).
