Franklin County girls tennis defeated Hagerstown 4-1 April 26. 

Kacie Williams (No. 1 singles), Grace Roth and Kaylin Knapp (1 doubles), Nicole Mears (No. 2) and Chloe Cowen and Regan Barker (2 doubles) all won. Williams won 7-6 (7-3), 6-1, Mears 6-3, 6-2, Knapp/Roth 6-2, 6-0 and Barker/Cowen 6-4, 6-1. Lola Mann suffered a 6-1, 7-5 loss at third singles. For junior varsity, Katherine Apsley and Halee Barker won 6-0 while Shelby Rosenberger and Kelsie Brackney won 6-1.

The girls edged conference foe Batesville 3-2 the next day. Roth and Knapp put the Bulldogs down with a three-set comeback (4-6, 6-2, 6-3). Cowen/R. Barker won 6-2, 6-3 and Mears took a 6-2, 6-0 win. Williams fell 6-3, 6-0 and Mann 7-5, 6-2. Reserve wins came for Vivian Silas and Lillian Ralph (7-5), H. Barker (6-2 twice).

The ladies dropped a 3-2 decision to Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference rival Connersville last Monday. Oldenburg Academy won every match on FC's home courts May 4 to go back with a 5-0 win.

Senior night was May 9 and no fewer than 10 from the Class of 2022 – as well as manager Jack Stirn - were honored and escorted to center court by their parents. Following that was a clean sweep over EIAC colleague South Dearborn, 5-0.

The EIAC tournament starts Thursday and concludes Saturday at Greensburg. Richmond visits Monday and the Connersville Sectional starts mid-week.
