BROOKVILLE – Paced by Devin McFarland's MVP round of 74, East Central held off the Connersville Spartans by three strokes Saturday at the 2022 Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference meet hosted by the Franklin County Wildcats at the municipal Brook Hill Golf Club.

The Trojan golfers collected a 326 as CHS finished at 329 and Greensburg came in at 333. The Batesville Bulldogs were fourth at 343, followed by Lawrenceburg at 349, the host Wildcats at 365, the Rushville Lions at 378 and South Dearborn at 411.

Leo Moody and Jackson Day were strong across the front nine for the Bulldogs, shooting 38 and 39, respectively. The back nine was trickier for each as the teammates put up 45 apiece, putting Moody at a team-best 83 and Day at 84. Moody was the last of the all-conference choices. Alec Bunselmeier shot 86 and Jackson Wanstrath 90 to finish up BHS scoring. Kyle Williamson rounded the course at 106.

Peyton Hoog and Justin Wuestefeld supported McFarland with cards reading 80 (both all-EIAC) and Ethan Moorman fired 92 for EC. Bradley Fite turned in 96 for the Trojans. Gage Brown (84), Conner Graves (90) and Dylan Thomas (93) were Connersville's other numbers.

Franklin County placed no one on the all-conference list, with senior Kaden Erfman leading the Cats with 88. Junior Peyton McCreary was next at 89, senior Austin Hill carded 92 and Drew Meyer finished FC scoring with 96. Senior Bridger Bolos turned in a 97.

Cooper Kinney was runner-up in the MVP standings for Connersville, ending at 76. Eli Hoffman of the SD Knights had a solid day to finish third with 76. All his teammates finished in triple digits, however.

The Spartans' Will Chalker was next at 79. Leading Greensburg and taking the seventh EIAC spot was Parker Phillips with a card of 80. Cameron Williamson paced the LHS Tigers with a round of 81. Colten Schroeder shot 82 for Greensburg's Pirates and Sam Smith was an all-conference qualifier from the Rushville Lions at 82.

Also scoring for Greensburg were Jack McKinsey with 85 and the duo of Abe Tebbe and Hunter Springmeyer topping out at 86 apiece. Jack Laker shot 85 for Rushville but a big drop-off followed as teammate Devin Richardson was next at 104, Jensen Smith at 107 and Cameron Jackman at 112.

Batesville hosts Columbus East at Hillcrest Thursday before attending Saturday's Connersville Invitational. Greensburg is at Rushville's Antler Pointe Friday evening and Franklin County competes in the New Castle Invitational Saturday.
